Following 40 years of service and leadership, Dr. Weber is retiring from the CEO role; will remain with The Specialty Alliance in a strategic advisory role to support long-term strategy and physician-led mission.

DALLAS, Sept. 24, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Dr. James Weber, M.D. has announced plans to retire from his role as CEO of The Specialty Alliance (TSA) on December 31, 2026. 

Dr. Weber’s impact on The Specialty Alliance extends far beyond the growth of the organization. Since founding Texas Digestive Disease Consultants, establishing GI Alliance, and launching The Specialty Alliance, Dr. Weber has been an advocate for physician-led care and has demonstrated that independent specialty practices can thrive through partnership, innovation, and scale, while keeping patients at the center of every decision.

As part of leadership transition planning, Dr. Weber will remain an integral part of TSA, continuing to serve as Chair Emeritus of the TSA management board and remain actively engaged in a strategic advisory role. He will continue to partner with physician and executive leadership to shape TSA’s long-term growth strategy and most importantly, to continue to advance the physician-led mission that has guided the organization since inception.

Since joining TSA as president in August, Nathan (Nate) H. Walcker has worked closely with Dr. Weber and the physician leadership team, including its Physician Executive Board, to drive strategic priorities, strengthen physician leadership, and position the organization for its next chapter of growth.
