The launch responds to a shift in industry rules, making the old, manual way of handling SSL certificate pins harder to sustain. SSL certificate pins, which apps use to confirm they are talking to the real company server and not an imposter, currently remain valid for up to 200 days. Under new CA/Browser Forum rules, that maximum will fall to 100 days on 15th March 2027 and 47 days on 15th March 2029. By 2029, traditional pinning will turn certificate rotation into a monthly grind: rebuild, test, resubmit, repeat, and force the app user to update the app just to stay current. Traditionally, apps handle an SSL certificate check by hardcoding, or “pinning,” a specific certificate directly into the app’s code. Whenever that certificate needs to change, on a routine schedule or in an emergency, the app must be rebuilt, tested, resubmitted for app store review, and force users to update the app process, which can take several days. SalusX AppInGuard replaces that fixed certificate with one that updates automatically and securely over the air, so the app never needs to be rebuilt or resubmitted just for an SSL certificate change.
